The open mic where the audience is captive and the poems are unrestrained. One poet, one microphone, and a room full of people who finally found somewhere they belong. The verse is free, the meter is questionable, and the applause is mandatory. Come for the poetry. Stay because the doors lock at nine.
You had to be there.
